Kulpahar Kids’ Home was founded by Leah Moshier and Dolly Chitwood in 1947. Dolly died in 1995 and

Leah in 2012. Linda, who joined the work in 1978, runs hostels for both orphans and boarding students.

Sharon is the business manager of the school.

Kulpahar Kids’ Home now consists of a home for orphaned and abandoned children, and a school.

There are 74 children in residence and 50 in training or working elsewhere. The school has 400 students

many of them Muslim and Hindu. The parents agree to their children studying scripture because they

want them to have a quality education.

There is also a fully equipped hospital on the mission grounds but the lack of a doctor for the past few

years has limited it’s outreach.

Several years ago the need for boarding children of former “kids” and children of poor pastors became

apparent. These children would not otherwise receive any education, let alone a Christian one.

In 2018 an Indian national was hired to be the General Manager of the home and school. This is part of the Indian board’s effort to help take responsibility for the running of the home and school.
