Blessings, everybody! We hope that you are all safe and secure during these trying times. As the COVID-19 virus makes its presence known in Yuma, we will be temporarily worshiping exclusively on-line. While it saddens us to miss the personal contact with our Christian family, we want to do our best to help prevent the spread of the virus, yet still worship together on-line. We will daily assess the local situation and make decisions in the future with much prayer preceding any decisions.
We are brainstorming some ideas to enhance this time apart as much as possible and have some ideas we are seriously considering. We will keep you posted as we move forward and continue to look forward to being together again!
For the time being all youth and children’s events are also suspended/postponed. For any upcoming events that are planned, we will continue to assess them and make decisions on a daily basis as the situation changes. Some small groups are still meeting, since they are as the title suggests, small groups. Check with your small group, or any you might be interested in to see if they are still meeting together.
During this time, we encourage you to strongly consider regularly giving as most of you already do. There are countless ways you can give “remotely.” Tithes and offerings can be mailed (First Christian Church, 3261 S. Avenue 6E, Yuma, AZ 85365), you can give through bill-pay on your bank’s website, you can give via the app (First Christian Yuma in the Apple Store or on the Play Store for Android), or via the church website (CLICK HERE).
We are continuing to work to spread the Gospel during this time. Last week we had four baptisms during the week. We are staying focused on our goals, and the office remains open normal hours, and staff are rotating hours to provide office coverage and to protect them as well. There is a lot of telecommuting going on, and we are making big plans to work through this time, and once again all be fellowshipping in person as things get better.
Beginning this Sunday morning, March 29th, we will be live streaming service at only 10:00 a.m. via Facebook Live. After the service is over, we have it set up so that it will be saved you can watch it again, or in case you missed it the first time. There will also be a link on the website as well as on the app.
Remember, God is still in control and on His throne. Remember the words of King Jehosaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:12: “O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (Emphasis mine). We have to keep our eyes fixed upon God, and have complete faith and trust in Him, and Him alone.
The most effective way for us to keep our eyes on him is through prayer. God wants to communicate with us, and what better way than to speak with Him directly! This is also be a great time to develop a habit of daily reading and pursuing Him, or devote even more time to studying the Bible than you already do.
Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
