“Tumaini” is a Kiswahili word for hope. Tumaini International Ministries Inc. (TIM) is a non-profit Christian organization formed and financially supported by people, churches, and organizations who want to reduce the suffering caused by the AIDS epidemic in Kenya.
Tumaini seeks to meet the spiritual and physical needs of AIDS orphans through a sponsorship program involving over 1500 children. Most of the children live with their grandparents, some with other relatives, and a few with neighbors.
Tumaini believes that children should be loved, nurtured, educated, and protected in a home environment. Only $38 a month provides a child with food, clothing, education, and health care.
Founded and directed by Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Mutunga. Tumaini International is invested in reducing extreme poverty through a variety of socio-economic programs designed to provide job training and sustainable development to unemployed youth and women. Their mission is to provide new economic alternatives for people facing extreme poverty through formal groups that are organized as Community-Based Organization (CBO) models. Examples include greenhouse farming, tailoring, grain milling, poultry raising, and more.
Founded and directed by Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Mutunga, Tumaini desires to help the thousands of starving and orphaned Kenyans, one family at a time. Some of the youth who have been helped by Tumaini have now formed an alumni alliance to help others.
