The Castro family came to know the Lord through the ministry of the Kallestad Family (another FCC
supported missionary) into the South of Chile. In 2003, a team of Chileans and North Americans went to
Iraq to minister through humanitarian aid and community development. Two of the team members
were Luis and Andrea Castro. When their time in Iraq came to an end, they returned to the South of
Chile to pastor the church in Melipeuco, focusing on bringing Mapuches to Christ. Luis is a talented
wood carver and uses this talent to help support his family as the church grows.
