“In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?”

In the grand scheme of things, what can anyone do to us that would rob us of our salvation in Christ and our home in heaven? There is nothing in this world that somebody could threaten us with, or make us say, that would make us give up our hope in Christ. Our trust in God to save us in the end for heaven is strong enough to resist any temptation. We have no fear of death when the time comes, no matter the circumstances! This world, and everything in it, is so temporary.

The psalmist says in Psalm 118:6, “The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?” We can be in total peace. Nothing to worry about. God has everything planned out for us. He just wants us to trust Him, no matter what. To enjoy the life that He has created for us. He wants us to enjoy it as He made it, all the while praising Him and giving Him thanks. In the New Testament as well, the writer of Hebrews says we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What shall man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:6) We are residents of a spiritual world. We should strive to not be affected by the things of this life that would make us constantly afraid, not knowing what’s ahead, or what may be lurking around the corner. In the worst-case scenario of a crisis or tragedy, we know there’s Somebody looking out after us. He will see us through it. He will never leave us alone.

Prayer for today:  Thank you, God, for the peace we can have as your children, completely under your protection. Thank you that we never need to fear. We praise your name.   Amen.
