“My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day.”

God loves every human being, and He wants every one of them to be saved. That’s who He is, a loving, kind, and patient God. From the very beginning, He has loved His creation and wants them to be in heaven with Him, forever. But we human beings wanted to be in charge and go by our own rules. Consequently, mankind lived at the risk of being lost in hell forever if he chose not to pay attention to what God wanted from each of us.

But God is patient. “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” (II Peter 3:9) He is willing to wait for His creation to repent of the wicked life they are living, distracted by all the gimmicks we have around us to tempt us and draw us away. He is a righteous God and wants us to devote our entire being to Him in this life, even while we enjoy the gifts that He blesses us with every day.

God doesn’t, and won’t make any mistakes when His righteous judgement comes, whether it’s when we die, or when Jesus comes, whichever comes first. So, let’s be aware, at all times, of the life that we are living. Do we feel that God would be pleased in what we’re involved in right now, or would He be disappointed and disapprove? God cannot be fooled. Let’s take our Christian life seriously, and live it totally for Him!

Prayer for today: Help us, God, to see this life as an opportunity to glorify You in all our actions, knowing that we have such a short time here. Help us to recognize those things we need to change and the importance of living this and every day for You, and not selfishly.  Amen.
