1 Praise the Lord!  Praise, O servants of the Lord,  praise the name of the Lord!

Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting,  the name of the Lord is to be praised!

The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens!
Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high,
who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.
He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children.
    Praise the Lord!       Psalm 113:1-9

Like the psalmist, we often take time to praise God for His mighty works in our lives and in the lives of others. Be it the gift of a new life, restoration from illness, or deliverance from danger we can often see God’s hand in the lives of those we love.  However, the psalmist declares that we not only sing of God’s mighty works, but we are to praise Him from the rising of the sun to the time it sets. How can we praise God all day long?

One, we can stop and appreciate the overlooked daily miracles of our existence. The fact that our lungs provide us with oxygen, our eyes can turn reflected light into sight, our ears mold waves of sound into conversation, poetry and song, each meal we eat, each sunrise we see, each comforting word of scripture we read is a blessing and worthy of praise to our Savior.

So today, let’s certainly praise God for His mighty works. But let’s also be on the lookout for the mighty amount of “smaller” miracles God preforms in our lives every day. If we take the time to be observant and mindful, we will never run out of things to praise God for. And this posture of gratitude before our God and King is proper because He is truly worthy.

Prayer for Today:

Father, I praise You for Your mighty works. From the glories of the sun, to the miracles of an atom, I see Your hand in all creation. Jesus, teach me Your Father’s will and show me His vast provision in my life so I may praise Him throughout the day. By Your Holy Spirit, keep me mindful of all the miracles and blessings my Great God provides for me and everyone each day.  Amen.
