“She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.” - Proverbs 31:16

Who manages the money in your household? Does your husband trust you with the payment of all the bills as well as all of the other expenditures? Are you willing to be responsible for that duty? Some husbands are happy with that kind of arrangement. He may be busy making a living for the family and appreciates you helping out with this responsibility. On the other hand, he may feel the responsibility to do it himself, and not have to worry you about it. Either way is okay as long as you are both in agreement. Regardless, we are meant to be good stewards of all of God’s gifts, including every bit of our income--the top ten percent going to the Lord, and the rest taking care of the other expenses. Remember that your tithe belongs to God. If you use it for something else, you’re robbing Him! (Malachi 3:8)

We are warned against our desire to be rich. He says in Proverbs 28:20 that “A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.” We must not give in to the temptation to want to be rich, but remember that “…Godliness with contentment is great gain.” (I Timothy 6:6) Let’s all be found faithful wherever God has placed us in His kingdom, whether it is of a higher responsibility, or a lower one. They are all honorable and it is all to be done to His glory!

Prayer for today: God help us to recognize our place in your great universe. Then give us the desire to want to serve in that capacity with all our being, wherever that may be.
