“She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens.” - Proverbs 31:15
Are you an early riser? Do you have on your mind the night before to get up out of bed early in the morning and prepare breakfast for your family? As a housewife who fulfills her duty, you know the feeling. Sometimes that’s not possible for a variety of reasons. But as a rule, is that a part of your daily routine? Not many of us are able to have maidservants so that is not really applicable in our lives. If you find it too hard to get up earlier in the morning than you usually do, are you willing to adjust your hours a little the night before and maybe go to bed a little bit earlier? The first night or two can be a little rough, but in a few days your body will adjust to a different time schedule and you will arise early enough to get the family fed in plenty of time. And besides that, you will probably feel better getting up a little earlier!
Proverbs 20:13 says this: “Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of food.” Try it, surprise your husband and family by providing a good breakfast for them, maybe instead of a quick bowl of cereal and some juice amidst the hustle and bustle of getting everybody else off to their days. Allow them to have more time to get ready for their own day too, whether it’s school or work. Then after everyone is gone off on their day, and you to your own job, whether it be employment outside the home or working in the home, sit down, relax before you start your day! You’ll feel good about yourself, and you’ll be better able to go about your own busy day, knowing, most of all, you will be pleasing God!
Prayer for today: God, give me the recognition of knowing what is expected of me, and give me the desire to want to change for the well-being of others. Amen.
