Finding your people can be a challenge as we navigating your walk with God. While having shared spiritual values adds a level of commonality, making the effort to live life alongside others takes commitment and patience.

But what our proverb tells us today is that when you do find your spiritual family, the bond will be almost inseparable. Two believers will enjoy a relationship of love, forgiveness and understanding that is only comparable to what close biological families enjoy. Jesus told us that this bond will also reflect his heart, and include him as well, “Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:19-20)

Not that two believers can just decide, “Hey let’s be billionaires. Yes, we agree, Lord, we are now billionaires!” and then money will just rain down from heaven. This statement alludes to the legal idea that truth was established on the testimony of two, preferably three people. So when believers come together in the truth of scripture, Jesus is there, and Heaven’s blessing will follow.

One of the most profound steps in our spiritual development is establishing deeper relationships with other believers. Worship can be fulfilling, and bible study informative, but the relationships we form with others believers inform and grow our faith like nothing else can.

So today if you are blessed with close friends in the faith, let them know you love and appreciate them. If you are still looking for people to share your walk with, a small group can be a great way to meet people who can become the fulfillment of this proverb in your life. Whatever path you take, it’s important you take other believers with you. They will love you unconditionally and stick by your side through thick and thin.

Prayer for Today
Father, grow my relationship with other believers into the healthy, spiritually affirming relationships you desire them to be. Jesus, show me how to love others the way you love me, that I may be blessed with a spiritual family that is inseparable. Guide me by your Holy Spirit that I can be a good and faithful friend, and share in the blessings of your kingdom. Amen.
