How much better to get wisdom than gold!
To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

Proverbs 16:16

Today, the 5th grade glass from
Southwestern Christian School Yuma
is in the mountains of Julian learning about the process of mining gold that was used as the area was settled in the past.

It's a long, labor intensive process. No matter what process they use, they find a lot of other neat stones, some chunks of fools gold... and very, very rarely... a tiny fleck of actual gold.

It takes a lot of 5th graders sifting through the mud to find even these little specks of gold. Its precious, because in this world, it is rare.

How much more precious then, is the wisdom of God in this world? And while it may seem rare in the world, in scripture... it's pure gold.

All the hard work, thousands of years of experiences, struggle, and faithful endurance, not to mention all the work it takes to translate it all into a language we can read? That bible you have is a treasure beyond compare, and it's wisdom is truly priceless.

So today, let's dive into the wisdom of scipture with the same joy and discovery as 5th graders delving into the dirt for gold. God's wisdom isn't so common in the world we should pass it up as routine. There is always more to learn, narratives to explore, and wisdom to discover.

Prayer for Today:

Father, thank you so much for the gift of your wisdom in scripture. Help me to seek it more than gold and treasure it more than silver. Jesus help me to know the will of your father, and by your Holy Spirit guide me in paths of wisdom for your name's sake. Amen.
